The
Pythian Star, June 1914
Australia Lodge, No.1, of Melbourne, represents the introduction
of our Order in the Antipodes.
It was instituted March 16, 1914, by Deputy Supreme Chancellor
Edward Millhouser, formerly of New York.
The Lodge started with forty-eight charter members. After
its institution, the lodge adopted a series of
resolutions which included the following: We want to further
testify to the fact that this Order
is today,
and that there is a freedom of speech, a democracy of membership,
and an opportunity for education,
not found in the work of any other Order with which we may
be acquainted.
